The Whats, Whys, & Hows of entrc
OR: "I hate entering my password!"

How to get your ENTchat client to auto-log you in to the server, so you never have to enter your password again:

• The ENTchat client creates in your home directory a sub-directory called .entchat
• Go into the .entchat directory with the command
  • cd .entchat
  • create a text file named entrc (must be lower case) with your favorite text editor.
  • In that file, enter the following two lines:
    • server=ddial.com
    • ddial.com:password=#########
      (replace ######### with your 9 digit password).
• Save the file and run the ENTchat client and see if it logs you in automagically.

Other fusti things to put in .entchat/entrc

• Automatically enter your co-passwrd (co-sysops only!)
  Hacker Warning:Invalid co-passwords will automatically log you out!
  • ddial.com:copassword=#########
    (replace ######### with your co-password - include q , >, or + as needed.}
• Create login commands/greetings
  • ddial.com:greeting=#########
    (replace ######### desired command/greeting}
  • Notes:
    • You may have a maximum of 10 commands/greetings
    • For more than one greeting, you must increment the 'greeting' command as follows:
      (1st command) ddial.com:greeting=#########
      (2nd command) ddial.com:greeting1=#########
      (3rd command) ddial.com:greeting2=#########
      (10th command) ddial.com:greeting9=#########
      Note: Do not include the "(xth command)" portion of above lines
  • Suggestions:
    • ddial.com:greeting=/e#___
      (replace ___ with 1st 3 digits of your password}
      Check to see if you have new mail waiting.
    • ddial.com:greeting=/s
      Check to see who's currently on-line
    • ddial.com:greeting=hihihihihihihihihihi!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
